Coleg Menai has given me a taste of what being an Art and Design student could be like. I'm really enjoying my time here and the whole experience has made me more passionate about choosing a career in Graphic Design. The course has not only given me an insight into how fascinating and adventurous a design course can be but also how beneficial it is socially. The past few months in Coleg Menai has shown how important socialising is in the industry I want to work towards.
At the beginning of the course I had no idea what career path I wanted to take but I now know for certain that my skills and passion lie in Graphic Design and in the Advertising industry, and I feel that my bubbly and friendly personality makes me employable in this type of business. From current briefs I have developed as a designer, and I have learnt to be imaginative, to be able to turn a simple brief into something that is visually interesting and personal.
A city such as Manchester is ideal for a student such as myself, to be able to be successful in an industry that revolves around people it is important to study in an environment that is in the hustle and bustle of it all. For this reason, Manchester Metropolitan is my first choice to study as it offers a good design facility and the city is very influential, the city will influence how I design and I think that this is most important.
Another aspect that interested me about Manchester, is the strong links the University has with industry. With previous work placements you have provided for students, such as The Designers Republic and TBWA, I know that I will have a good insight into my future career.

Final Image: Climate Change Campaign

I designed this poster for the World Wildlife Fund, Wildlife Conservatives. I researched existing campaigns promoting Climate Change for the organisation, and they were very clever, I wanted to produce something just as clever and impactful.
The quote is taken from an existing campaign but the final image and design is my own.

Brief: Unexpected and Unexplained

An open brief that allowed us to interpret one unexpected and unexplained event that had happened in our life. Mine was the move from Thailand to Wales.

Large Scale Drawing: Spacial Awareness

This was my large scale drawing during the applied department of the diagnostic block. I learnt to express myself freely. It's a piece of work about how we interpret the space around us. It's a painting from three different angles that was then combined. We firstly used black ink, then colours, then we had to complete the image with white paint.

Climate Change Campaign

Another idea that I generated for the Climate Change Campaign, playing around with the idea of saving energy to save the next generation.
The image illustrates a pregnant woman holding on to her stomach, the world, and a baby's footprint emerging from the world.

Climate Change Brief

A poster idea for my Climate Change Campaign. The image illustrates a pregnant Britain, to promote saving energy enable to save the next generation.

Life Drawing: Spacial Awareness

During the Diagnostic blog we experimented with a range of mediums. In this spacial drawing we had to generate a large scale drawing of Jan, the model and the surrounding environment. We focused mainly on the space around her, and how we interpretted the lighting and the colours used to express the atmosphere of the room.
